Speaker 0: ZK is this way where you can have one person do all the computation and then generate a proof that it was done correctly, and then everyone else in the world can verify that the computation was done correctly, but they don't have to redo it. And the key magical property is verifying the computation takes much less time than redoing the computation. So that's where you kind of get the scalability properties. So you're combating the overhead of decentralization or you're solving the overhead of decentralization with this verifiable computation. So that's why it's so powerful.
Speaker 1: Expansion was kick started by a grant from the Celestia Foundation. Nothing said on expansion is a recommendation to buy or sell securities or tokens. This podcast is for informational purposes only, and any views expressed by anyone on the show are solely our opinions, not financial advice. Rex, John, and our guests may hold companies, funds, or projects discussed. John, how are
Speaker 2: you doing? Doing good. Doing good. Let's get into it. Welcome to expansion.
If everyone can quickly introduce themselves, your name, and what you're working on. Let's start with Zucki.
Speaker 3: Hey. I'm Zucki, as it says below me, cofounder of Sommelier. But I'm working with, Skip protocol, in the context of, of of the z k, the base layer project. Also, like, long time adviser to Celestia, OG Cosmos person, just various other things.
Speaker 4: Sure. I can I can go next? Hi, everyone. My name is John. I'm one of the cofounders of Celestia, the 1st modular blockchain network that makes it easy for anyone to securely launch their own blockchain.
Speaker 0: Hi. I'm Uma. I'm one of the cofounders of Sysynct. We are making z k accessible to every developer with our zkbm SP 1 and our decentralized prover network. And we have worked with Celestia in the past on a zk implementation of Blobstream, their bridge, to Ethereum, and we're also working with them on zk SNARK accounts.
Speaker 1: Very cool. So I think the best place for us to start in this conversation about ZK accounts is let's just level set what we're talking about here. So, John, I as I mentioned before we started recording, I just watched an incredible condensed 20 to 30 minute, like, breakdown of what ZK accounts are. But can you just try to, like, package that into a high level, easy to digest? Like, what are ZK accounts?
How do they affect the Celestia architecture? And, like, why is the addition of this new primitive change, what Celestia, like, offers to the blockchain ecosystem?
