Saurabh: Hi. This is the Deco podcast, and I'm your host, Saurabh. Before we begin, views expressed here are personal opinions. None of this is any kind of advice, let alone financial or legal. It's a conversation about things we find interesting.
Welcome to episode sahathi. Sid is my cohost, and we are talking to Matt Luambo, CEO of TSYS. TSYS is a venture studio with portfolio companies developing applications on Bitcoin. Matt has been building Bitcoin apps for over a decade now. Now unlike most in the industry, he doesn't derive his motivation from Nava grew up.
He first turned to Bitcoin not because of investments, but because he had to after his gift card business was shut down by PayPal. This is how Ford was born, by the way. Since then, Matt has been a serial 0 to 1 entrepreneur. We talk about Bitcoin culture, how change resistant Bitcoin is more of a feature than a bug, how thesis works with its portfolio companies like Mezzo and Acre, and much more. What strikes me the most about Matt is how he's keen on listening to market feedback and changing his opinion on things.
I've seen a very few examples of Bitcoiners who have publicly changed their pipe on something after listening to the market feedback. One such instance was how Mac changed his stance on big blocks. For those who don't know, Matt was for big blocks during the early days of the Bitcoin scaling debate. We tried something new for the episode. We ended with the rapid fire that Sid conjured up on the spot.
Alright. Onto the episode now. Matt, before we get into who Matt Bongo is, is he a CEO or developer, a Bitcoiner, or a little bit of everything? I rent somewhere that you have a keen interest in coffee. Joel and I have official orders here.
Can you share more about it?
Sid: Aficionados. Yeah.
Matt: Yeah. Aficionados. I have I have I have terrible life news then. After it being a hobby for about I don't know. I've been a pretty avid drinker since I was 15, so 20 years.
I couldn't I was a 5 cups a day guy, and I finally stopped. I just drink tea now, guys. I don't even know what to do with myself. It's strange. I've been on a couple wellness kicks.
