Welcome to the Deco podcast, where we bring you stories from founders and investors in Web three. Before we get started, this is not a financial or legal advice. It's just a conversation about things we find interesting in Web three. Views expressed are our own personal opinions. Deco members or guests appearing on the show may have positions on assets they talk about. Welcome to the new episode. I have with me, Jay Kurashii Sofu, who's the CMO at Eco, and Ryan Sachs, who's the CEO at Eco. Welcome to the show, guys. Thanks
for having us. Glad
to be here. Yeah. We've been pumped to do this together. It's kind of a rare treat. We're usually separate recording around. It
was inviting and conquering. Oh,
this is amazing having each other. Yeah. I'm
glad that both of you are here. Let's start a little bit with your backgrounds. Ryan has studied physics, and then we studied law at Stanford. Mhmm. So, you know, quite the transition from physics to law to to crypto.
Yeah. I think it makes more sense maybe than it seems. Yeah. So I studied physics because I started in engineering, and I found it too limiting. I had all these other interests I wanted to chase. At least where I went to school, there was sort of you know, there was physics was in a different college than engineering, and you had a lot more kind of, like, freedom to roam through other subjects. So I went, like, the route of physics and math. I didn't really like to code, so it was better for me to to sort of, like, find my way into a lab. And, that just kinda, like, was the right fit for me. I

But I want to understand your stint at Ogilvy, and that's primarily for two reasons. Right? I mean, in Mumbai, when I travel, there's a company called Amul, which is like a dairy products company, pretty big in India. And they have these billboards, and I know that ABLV is there. Like, they do their branding and, like, all those stuff. Right? And those billboards are, like, very topically, very edgy, very funny
No. That you're highlighting a lot of things that I feel like I really learned at Ogilvy and also just in the traditional agency world. I was interested in crypto already pretty deeply at that point. I was just, like, reading white papers, trying to get to the next thing, what's actually gonna be faster, cheaper, better, right, or more decentralized, I think, was also very topical at that time or top of mind for a lot of those conversations. And when I was at Olga, we actually joined as a brand strategist, and brand strategist is basically the glue that holds all the marketing together. It's t
