Welcome to the Deco podcast, where we bring you stories from founders and investors in Web three. Before we get started, this is not a financial or legal advice. It's just a conversation about things we find interesting in Web three. Views expressed are our own personal opinions. The co members or guests appearing on the show may have positions on assets they talk about. Alright. Another episode. We have Mats Olsen, who's the CTO and cofounder at Dune. I guess if you're in crypto for quite some time, one of the data companies that you've definitely come across is Dune. So, Mats, welcome to the
for having me. Great to be here. Yeah. Been in crypto since, 02/2017 now, and Dune has existed since 02/2018. So it's been a while. So

So we started out back then by essentially leaning on our experience from, like, prototyping apps on chain. So we were building on test nets and really struggled to understand how to get data. And so I used to work as a data scientist, so I was really interested in this concept of the blockchain as a database and quickly realized that it's right optimized. You can't really read any data from it except, like, point lookups. So that was really the basis that or the, like, the t
Just that it's more change and more people.
