On the lead up in recent months, you've been pretty active on Twitter, in somewhat predicting some of these potential, you know, news coming out of China. So I would love to just have you set the stage on what has happened in the last week that has shocked markets that led to NVIDIA NVIDIA to go down, you know, its biggest single day drawdown down 17%. What the hell happened, and how did we get here?
Yeah. Amazing question, and I think something that a lot of people are struggling with, myself included, just for folks that are kind of out of the loop a little bit. So there's a startup that's a, you know, former, maybe potentially current hedge fund called DeepSeek. They're out of, I think, Hangzhou in China, and they released, an open source model which rivals some of the state of the art leading edge models coming out of OpenAI, Anthropic, you know, that kind of thing. And the thing that's really kind of shook the market is 2 things. 1, it's open source, meaning you can look at it, you ca
Awesome. Okay. So that gives us a lot of fodder to to jump into. But my first question is, you know, one of the one of the initial emotional reactions I've seen from people as they digest this news is, okay. Well, you know, channelize about everything. Right? Is, you know, how do we know they didn't make this up? And so the question arises is that, as you mentioned, this deep seek model is open source. You can download the model yourself and and run it and piece it apart. But then there's also the question of, okay. Well, how did it you know, this this, you know, $5,000,000, $6,000,000 or what
Yeah. So you could try to replicate it, which again would take a lot of time and energy, and you don't have their 5,000,000,000,000 words or tokens of data. Okay. So that's the real alpha. I think part of the reason it's efficient, let's just start from scratch, is they're building on the shoulders of giants. Okay. So it looks like and I played with this model and, you know, if you ask a certain question it says, hey, I'm GPT 3.5. So there's a tell there. Initially, I thought they forked one of these models, meaning they took a llama and they just trained it and made it better. If you look at
