You're now plugged in to the Delphi podcast. Oh. Hi,
guys. I'm Josemarie Masaidu, your host for today, and welcome to another episode of the Delphi podcast. Today, I'm really happy to be joined by Lars and Michael from Almanac. We have a really long history with this team. Both Lars and Michael, initially worked on risk simulation at Delphi Labs before spinning off to build Almanac to scratch their own itch with a lot of the problems they saw while while doing that at Delphi. At the time, their vision was to build a permissionless platform to run agent based simulations on any blockchain in order to be able to properly test stuff like liquidity
So do you mind, Lars, if I may start? So hi, guys. My name is Michael, and I'm the founder and CEO. I'm in this space for 7 years. And before Almanac, I've been running. I've been working with 25 plus DeFi protocols. 1 minute different problems. I was either like mathematician or product person. Overall, I was like focused on like making them work. And like Justin said, we realized that a lot of protocols, you know, not work the best way. Therefore, we set up Almanac with Lars. I met Lars in, in, in Delphi, and we together started to to be what we have these days. When it comes to Almanac, and
Yeah. Thanks, Jose. That was a a great intro. Yeah. Hi, everyone. My name is, Lars. I, cofounder and CTO of Almanac. I am a computer scientist by trade. I guess that's how I always start. I love solving hard problems using, data. I've worked with, data machine learning for, I think, over 7 years now in various industries, all the way from health care, patient data, to ecommerce. And, yeah, over the last 4 years, I've been trying to apply my knowledge in the crypto space, solving various problems from, you know, like, in house data and aggregating on chain data in a way that makes sense, all th
Yeah. Maybe let's let's start with could you describe in in a simple terms as possible what Almanac is and and sort of why it matters? And we're we're gonna dive obviously deeper throughout the podcast, but maybe just, like, very simply for people, what is Almanac?
Sure. So Almanac is a platform that allows users to build agents that make money. This is like the simplest explanation. So simply imagine having your personal quant that you can tell what you want to achieve. The quant would tell you what's the best way how to achieve it and deploy the strategy for you. Why Almanac is very important these days is, you realize that DeFi these days is extremely complex, extremely overwhelming. It's fragmented. You have tons of different layer 1, layer 2s. You have like I think last time I checked there's 11,000, pools you can deploy money into on the file. Yeah
Lars, you wanna you wanna add to that or or give your own interpretation, or or, is that good for you? You're muted, by the way. Thank
you. I need to get used to this. I would add on to that that, agents and and artificial intelligence are it's not just automation. It is it is way beyond that. Like, I think we'll we'll get into that a little bit later. But if we look at, artificial intelligence and the rate at which its intelligence is increasing and currently surpassing humans on many benchmarks, and, you know, we haven't seen the last benchmark being crushed, then, you know, it it's this is the singularity. Right? Like, this is the the AI singularity where artificial intelligence overtakes human intelligence. And anyone tha
So you guys were building a protocol for agents before agents were a thing. Nowadays, agents are all the rage. Everyone's talking about them. Everyon
