Rune, welcome to NetworkShape Podcast. We've been I think friendly, friendly acquaintances online for a while. That's right. You're an ex personality. I think it's been publicly disclosed that you were at you're at OpenAI. Yeah. And what do you wanna say about yourself, your interests, all that kind of stuff?
I'm an AI guy, fundamentally. I've been posting about it since, like, 2022. I think I was kinda one of these people at the time who was, like, very techno optimistic in a time when the vibe of the Internet was pretty strange and, like, kind of dooming on anything that had to do with San Francisco. And, like, I was, like, the San Francisco guy. I was, like, you know, cheerleading. I guess I expected that the next trillion dollar company would still come out of San Francisco, which, you know, I think Peter Thiel gave it like a fifty fifty odds or something is what he said at the time. I think I
and I agree is I've always been for the SF tech community. I've just been against the city's governance. So I think we agree that that's been pretty bad. Yeah. But evidently, it's improved a bit recently. On third hand, as we were discussing, I don't know if it's like, Lenin's new economic policy. It's like, you know, it's like, if it drops 90% and it comes up 20%, it feels like such a relief. But is it actually back where it was? You know, I don't know. But, whether so obviously, OpenAI, very successful, obviously, Nvidia, very successful. Whether they can become trillion dollar companies is
bunch of things we
can talk about in that. Alright, first, let me poke and maybe you give me a counter poke. Tell me I'm
wrong.
In November, December 2022, when it was such a shock of how good chat GBT was, there's a question of would prompting endure or would it be something that would just,
like, read your mind or what have you, or we have some other form?
Would you not have to do prompt optimization? And at least two and a half years later, things may change, and but I'll give an argument as to why maybe they won't change. Prompting looks like it's here to stay. Like, for example, in midjourney, they actually have command line flags with prompting like c ref and s ref for character references, style references. And basically, prompting in my view is programming just like a third level, like assembly programming, prompting. Right? Let me pause here and get your thoughts and say something. Yeah.
